Membership with the Australian Kinesiology Association

 The Australian Kinesiology Association is the peak body in the Kinesiology industry. 

Membership Levels 

The AKA membership year for all membership levels is from 1 July to 30 June. All membership fees include GST.

ALL STUDY (EITHER VIA RTO OR WORKSHOP) MUST BE FULLY ACCREDITED WITH THE AKA.  Click here to find an AKA accredited course. Applicants are advised to refer to this information, or contact enquiries@aka.asn.au  for accreditation status before they commence their study.


Associate Membership - For people interested in keeping abreast of what is happening in the world of kinesiology. Open to general public. Current annual membership fee $ 55.00

Student Membership

For people currently studying kinesiology in Australia. Current annual membership is free. 

Kinesiology Instructor/Trainer Membership - Kinesiology instructors/trainers teach both non-professionals and professionals in the industry. An instructor meets individual kinesiology modality requirements (may offer proficiency assessment). A Trainer must have current Cert IV TAE qualification or higher (may issue proficiency assessment certificates).  Current annual membership fee is $192.50. 

AKA Registered Supervisor/Mentor - If you are an AKA practitioner member you can also register as a clinical supervisor and/or clinical mentor for an added annual fee of $55.  Click  here for further information about eligibility and application forms.

Kinesiology Practitioner Membership The Australian Kinesiology Association has created a national standard for kinesiology practitioners which is administered by the Australian Kinesiology Practitioner Registration Board (PRB).  Current annual membership fee is $192.50. 

  • Registered Kinesiology Intermediate Practitioner (Level 4)- For people who have completed  250 hours kinesiology study plus 50 hours of Clinic (minimum requirement 20 hours supervised clinic + 30 hours mentored clinic), 50 hours of Communication, 50 hours anatomy physiology plus a minimum of 40 hours of Mentored Clinic (a total 150 hours required, minimum 40 hours per annum) plus current first aid certificate (Provide First Aid HLTAID003/Apply First Aid HLTFA311A) and Professional Indemnity & Public Liability Insurance.  Please click here to see breakdown of kinesiology hours.
  • Registered Kinesiology Professional Practitioner (Level 5) - For people who have completed 52415 Diploma of Kinesiology OR 600 hours kinesiology 50 hours of Supervised Clinic, 150 hours Mentored Clinic, study plus 100 hours each of nutrition, communication studies, anatomy physiology, 40 hours of each business management and work practices, WHS, Legal, ethics, 20 hours of marketing (including social media), plus current first aid certificate (Provide First Aid HLTAID003) and Professional Indemnity & Public Liability Insurance.  Please click here to see breakdown of kinesiology hours.  
  • Registered Advanced Kinesiology Practitioner (Level 6) - For people who have completed 1200 hours kinesiology, 200 hours of Supervised & Mentored Clinic,  study plus 100 hours each of nutrition and communication studies, 150 hours anatomy physiology 40 hours of each business management and work practices, WHS, Legal, ethics, 20 hours of marketing (including social media),  300 hours of specialisation units, plus current first aid certificate (Provide First Aid HLTAID003) and Professional Indemnity & Public Liability Insurance.  Please click here to see breakdown of kinesiology hours.

Practitioner Member Application Fees - This is a non refundable application fee payable to the Practitioner Registration Board for those wishing to apply for practitioner registration.

  • Application fee for Registered Kinesiology Intermediate Practitioner (Level 4)  $33.00 (incl GST)
  • Application fee for Registered Kinesiology Professional Practitioner (Level 5) $55.00 (incl GST)
  • Application fee for Registered Kinesiology Specialist Practitioner (Level 6) $77.00 (incl GST)

International Membership- for registered modality Instructors who are also registered Kinesiology Practitioners residing overseas with membership with a Kinesiology Association in the country you are residing. Current annual membership fee $ 175.00 AUD (Excl GST)
