Membership

The Australian Kinesiology Association is the peak body in the kinesiology industry. The membership period for all memberships and renewals is from 1 July – 30 June and all kinesiology study must be fully accredited with the AKA.

Kinesiology Practitioner Membership types

Registered Kinesiology Intermediate Practitioner
(Level 4)

Eligibility

425 hours study consisting of:

  • 250 hours kinesiology study
  • 50 hours communication study
  • 50 hours anatomy physiology study
  • 25 hours infection prevention and control

50 hours of clinic consisting of:

Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance

Note: A further 45 hours of mentored clinic to be completed within 2 years of achieving Level 4 membership

HLT 52415 Diploma of Kinesiology

OR

1200 hours study consisting of:

  • 600 hours kinesiology study
  • 100 hours nutrition study
  • 100 hours communication study
  • 100 hours anatomy physiology study
  • 40 hours business management study
  • 40 hours work practices, work health safety, legal, ethics study
  • 20 hours marketing (including social media) study

50 hours of supervised clinic

150 hours mentored clinic

Registered Kinesiology Specialist Practitioner
(Level 6)

Eligibility

2150 hours study consisting of:

  • 1200 hours kinesiology study
  • 300 hours specialisation units
  • 100 hours nutrition study
  • 100 hours communication study
  • 150 hours anatomy physiology study
  • 40 hours business management study
  • 40 hours work practices, work health safety, legal, ethics study
  • 20 hours marketing (including social media) study

200 hours of supervised and mentored clinic

Kinesiology Instructor/ Trainer Membership

Kinesiology instructors/trainers teach both non-professionals and professionals in the industry. An instructor meets individual kinesiology modality requirements (may offer proficiency assessment). A Trainer must have current Cert IV TAE qualification or higher (may issue proficiency assessment certificates).

AKA Registered Supervisor/ Mentor

For registered modality instructors who are also registered kinesiology practitioners residing overseas with membership with a kinesiology association in the country you are residing.
