VIC Kinesiology Community

The Victorian Government has announced a five day lockdown from 11:59pm, Thursday 15 July.

There are only five reasons to leave home:

  • to get food and supplies
  • exercise, for up to two hours and no more than 5kms from your home
  • work or education if you can’t do it from home
  • care and caregiving
  • getting vaccinated at the nearest possible location.

Everyone must work from home unless you are an authorised worker. If you were an authorised worker during the last lockdown, you’ll be an authorised worker this time. Face masks must be worn outdoors and indoors at all times (except at home).

Cash Support For Victorian Businesses During Lockdown

Automatic payments will be made to eligible businesses and sole traders across the state. Up to 90,000 businesses that have and will receive payments through the Licensed Hospitality Venue Fund and Business Costs Assistance Program relating to the May-June lockdown will receive the Victorian Government’s new support payments of $3,000 and $2,000 respectively. Eligible businesses will include restaurants, cafes bars, event suppliers, tourism and accommodation providers and non-essential retailers.

Free help from the Partners in Wellbeing Helpline

The Partners in Wellbeing Helpline is a free, confidential service offering small business owners and their employees one-on-one access to trained wellbeing coaches, financial counsellors and business advisors. Call the Partners in Wellbeing Helpline on 1300 375 330 for assistance between 9am to 10pm on weekdays and 9am to 5pm on weekends. A live chat function is also available on the website.

The Victorian Government has launched a new round of grants for eligible small to medium businesses, including employing and non-employing businesses impacted by the recent restrictions in Victoria.

The government refers to Kinesiology since the last lockdown as “Other Allied health” Code 8539 on the ANZSIC industry code list. 

To be eligible you have to have work cover insurance and charge GST.

From 11:59pm Thursday 10 June, updated restrictions will be in place for metropolitan Melbourne

Only services where face masks are worn throughout the service can resume and you must have a Covid safe plan and QR code.

11:59 pm on Thursday, 3 June 2021, if you live in metropolitan Melbourne, the circuit-breaker lockdown (announced 27 May 2021) has been extended.

Kinesiology practitioners in metropolitan Melbourne are advised to work via virtual care options.

11:59 pm on Thursday, 3 June 2021 if you live in Regional Victoria, staying covid safe remains important. 

Only services where the customer can wear a face mask throughout the service can resume and you must have a Covid safe plan.


The Victorian government has announced a seven-day lockdown. The circuit-breaker lockdown will start at 11:59pm 27 May and be in place until 11:59pm on 3 June.

Kinesiology practitioners in Victoria are advised to work via virtual care options.

From 11.59pm Wednesday 17 February 2021, Victorian's restrictions will ease and we can return to some of the previous rules, with masks remaining mandatory indoors and outdoors where you cannot practice physical distancing.

20/10/2020:  the Australian Kinesiology Association has been in contact with the DHHS and can confirm that all Victorian practitioners may resume face to face consultations as of October 19, including metropolitan Melbourne practitioners, with restrictions.
